Smart Transactional SMS
Smart transactional SMS is triggered by our API, supports Content Tags using Twig templates for personalization.
There two types of transactional message you can create and send, a transactional SMS which is limited to 160 characters per text and transactional MMS which you can send more than 160 characters per text with multimedia. MMS messages can contain 1600 characters and up to 10 multimedia urls with total no more than 5MB and only available with your own custom Textable Number.
Create a Smart Transactional SMS
The first step in creating a smart transactional SMS is to set it up in our app:
- Click Transactional under Smart Send navigation.
- Click New Transactional button and select SMS as transactional type.
- Enter a name for the transactional. The name you choose for your email will be used later for reporting.
- If you have subscriber lists in your account, you can select the List that you would like to add the recipients to.
- Select the message type SMS or MMS if you're planing to send multimedia.
- Select Dynamic Content if you would like to provide the SMS content.
- Type the message content, you can use Content Tags to personalize.
- Click Save.
Add Recipients to a Subscriber List
When creating a smart transactional SMs, you can optionally add the transactional recipients to a subscriber list in your account. To comply with permissions-based text message marketing, the only acceptable way is if the recipient has explicitly expressed permission to be sent texts by opting-in at the time of triggering the transactional SMS.
Set up a trigger to send
With your transactional SMS designed and ready to send, the next thing you'll need to do is start using the transactional SMS in your app. If you're not the person adding text triggers to your application or website, this is where they take over. Please refer to our API docs for more instructions on how to start using your new transactional SMS.
