Automated Journey Designer

Once you land on the Journey Designer page, you'll be prompted to choose a trigger for your journey. Choose a trigger that would make start this journey. After that, you'll start adding steps to build and personalize the journey.

Journey Triggers

There are seven triggers to choose from as the starting point for your journey:

  • Subscriber joins a list.
  • Subscriber unsubscribes from your mailing list.
  • Subscriber reads a campaign.
  • Subscriber clicks any link in a campaign.
  • Subscriber achieves a revenue target.
  • Subscriber abandons a revenue target.
  • Subscriber submits a form.

Journey Steps

Add your first step to the journey by clicking the + button below the trigger. There are four types of steps: Wait, Email, SMS and Condition. After you add a step, another + button will show below it. You can add as many steps as you like.

Once you add a step, click on it to enter the required values. For example, If the step is a Wait step, you'll need to enter the wait period, if the step is a Condition step, you'll need to add the conditions for the condition.

Condition Step

Conditions are steps that split a journey into two paths, based on a rule. For example, you might want to give VIP customers a larger discount when they sign up. Subscribers who match the rule will follow the "Yes" path. Subscribers who don't will follow the "No" path.

Condition steps are built on rules. You can add up to as many rules you like for any condition and specify whether any or all of the rules need to be true for the condition to be met.

Turn Journeys on or off

In the journey designer, you'll see the Active button at the top left. This is disabled until all steps in the journey have been completed. We also let you know which steps are incomplete. After all steps in the journey are complete you can toggle the journey on or off.

Journey steps are executed relative to a journey's start time for a subscriber. That timing is maintained when a journey is turned off — that is, subscribers already in a journey that's turned off continue their progress through the steps, they just don't get sent the emails along the way.
